Common Questions

Q: I am skeptical that you can help. What can you say to help me make the call and schedule an appointment?
A: We realize you may have been to numerous “specialists.” We understand your skepticism. Still, we will be able to add value to your life through our chiropractic services. Why not give us a call today?

Q: Is it safe?
A: Chiropractors are highly-trained professionals, providing safe and effective care for a variety of conditions. Their goal is to help patients find the most appropriate care for their needs. Chiropractic services are recognized as a safe and drug-free, non-invasive therapy in the treatment of pain. The risks are low; the benefits are high with patients often feeling immediate relief following chiropractic treatment. Some patients do experience mild soreness—much like the stiffness or aching after exercising.

Q: Is your service covered by my insurance?
A: Chiropractic care is covered by most health insurance plans. These include major medical, workers’ comp, Medicare, some Medicaid plans, and Blue Cross Blue Shield plans for federal employees. The best way to know for sure is to simply give us a call.

Q: What is the basic process?
A: After a detailed history and thorough examination, in most cases you will be treated the first day.  After any necessary therapies a spinal alignment will be performed to restore or enhance joint function, and in the process, reduce the patient’s pain. Chiropractic manipulation rarely causes discomfort. The chiropractor adapts each procedure to meet the needs of each patient. Patients often note positive changes in their symptoms immediately following treatment.

Q: What conditions can be treated with an alignment?
A: Doctors of Chiropractic (DCs) often treat back pain, neck pain and headaches with chiropractic adjustments. Causes of these conditions can include injuries and disorders of the musculoskeletal system— the muscles, the ligaments, the joints.  These conditions can involve or impact the nervous system. The benefits of chiropractic care extend to general health issues, and patients can be counseled on diet, nutrition, exercise, living healthy, and lifestyle modification.

Q: I’m worried about becoming dependent on prescription pain killers. Are there options?
A: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has noted that commonly prescribed painkillers can cause accidental death with overdoses of opioid painkillers blamed for some 15,000 deaths per year. You don’t have to take prescription drugs to get out of pain! There are alternatives out there. While the decision to discontinue the use of medication is between you and your PCP, we can help you “naturally” with chiropractic care, be less dependent on pain medication.

Q: Will I need surgery to ease my pain?
A: A 2013 study by the National Institutes of Health reported that “approximately 42.7% of workers who first saw a surgeon had surgery, in contrast to only 1.5% of those who saw a chiropractor.”
